Say No to Drugs: Protect the Mind, Not Just the Streets

September 7, 2025 @ 7:54 pm - 8:55 pm UTC+0

Drug prevention must go beyond stopping importers, wholesalers, retailers, and users. To fight drugs holistically, we must also address the conditions that make the human mind vulnerable to them.

The fight against drug abuse is often presented as a battle against the movement and distribution of drugs. We focus on protecting transit points, stopping importation, targeting wholesalers and retailers, and holding drug users accountable.

But a fight that requires protecting the seat where thoughts untwined the mind, from factors that make drugs an option to some of its victims, especially those who abuser of drugs results from the unexpected actions of love ones and leaders.
Check the media and listen to the responses of the vast majority of drugs’ victims, who are asked about what they benefit from using drugs.
There will be no surprise to hear responses with statements like:
I do drug, because it makes me feel good,
I do drugs, because it makes me overcome my frustration,
I do drug, because it makes me recover my self-esteem,
I do drug, because it takes away my worries, and stress,
I do drug, because it makes me feel human,
I do drug, because it makes me believe life still has hope, even though, realistically such believe is shadow,
I do drug, because it makes me over come my fear and low self-confidence.
When I keenly listen to these responses from drugs’ victims, I think to ask myself, what are those factors taking away the: self-esteem, good feelings, hopes, happiness, peace of mind, and self-believe from those who never believed in drugs?
Evidently, we have been able to discover that some of these factors are seated right there in the culture of bad governance, corruption, injustices, lack of opportunities, unemployment, poverty, low labor incentives, and most importantly unexpected actions from love ones and leaders?
In my opinion, if we can target these factors along with the those that are widely known, there’s no doubt that DRUGS will be resisted holistically.
The truth is, if we havening to succeed in preventing the importation, retail or wholesale distributions within our communities.
There is a likelihood for drugs to re-emerge when factors making the minds vulnerable to drugs or allowing the mind to consider the improper use of drug as an option are not overcome.
Remember, the systems set to fight against drugs are run by humans, who have minds that interpret and response to things differently.
If there’s no system to protect their emotional balance, treat them rightly and help them feel human, while ensuring this fight is successful.
This same authority would permit the entry of drugs, probably not for public use, but for private use with the intend to feel human, regain hope, fight fear, relief worries, overcome frustration, and maintain a peace of mind.
With this, drugs would possibly and gradually re-emerge in our society.
It’s also possible that the associates of those authorities who smuggle drugs to be used for personal benefits mentioned, to take those drugs available to the community and do the usual business that is currently affecting our nation.
Can we prioritize figuring out those factors making the MIND vulnerable to drugs?
Can we prioritize figuring out those factors making drugs the best option to the mind?
Yes! We can.
With honesty, loyalty in national leadership, social and personal relationship.
People “Emotions” must get a total protection by law, if we are really to fight drugs use as a nation.
